MedicWorks course fees are the best in the business. If you find a lower rate bring in a copy our their printed ad and MedicWorks wont just match it we'll beat it by 10%. Beware, many MedicWorks competitors pricing don't include AHA or other required materials such as student books as mandated by AHA and others.

If a course doesn't meet your state certification requirements, we'll gladly refund your class fees.
Payment, Fees include course material unless stated otherwise.

Students Requirements

MedicWorks courses maybe taught under realistic conditions ie weather, rain, snow, , poor lighting, noise and other distractions depending on subject matter. See course information, Dress for the weather.

Various courses include CPR, hiking, climbing stairs or steep trails, rappelling, ascending, patient & equipment lifting, stretcher tending & carrying, load hauling, and water rescue. Firefighter related classes (Wildland, FEMT, etc) may include wearing PPE, turnouts, Wildland gear, and SCBA's. Students may be physically active throughout their course and will need to be in appropriate attire and physical condition to perform skills required for course.

See class details for required skills. You must be able to function as a working provider (First Aider, FR, EMT, EMTP)

Wilderness, EMS, Fire, and Rescue courses may involve hazardous activity. MedicWorks has an excellent safety record, but we may require students have medical insurance coverage, either their own or through their agency.

MedicWorks courses involving patient care may including activities such as lifting, log-rolling, and other direct contact with other students.

H.O.T. (Hand-on-Training), You will learn by doing many skills. Hands On Training (H.O.T.) is used in many classes and for many, makes learning a more enjoyable and students .

People sometimes learn more through failure than they do through success. Our Fail-to-Learn approach was developed to help students embrace failure.

Terms of Enrollment

General Enrollment Information:All registrations are first come - first served basis. Full payment of class fees receive preference. You are not fully registered in a class until we have received your payment in full and determined that space is available.

Cancelation, Refund and Transfer Policy:

REFUNDS/CREDIT/Cancellation: If you cancel your enrollment in a basic level class, you will be issued a refund or credit of class fees minus a $25 administration fee (per class, or per person) if you notify us in writing at least three business days prior to the class you are scheduled to attend. NO refunds or credits will be issued if you do not attend the class in which you were enrolled or to which you were transferred.
EMT, WEMT cancellations with less than 45 days written notice, 30 days notice for WFR and WFA courses, are non-refundable but the applicant may enroll in another class offered more than 30 days out from current enrolled class, but must be within one year, the following (12) twelve months. It may be possible to substitute another qualified applicant from your agency if the original applicant is unable to attend. Substitutions must be made prior to the start/beginning of the course, additional fees may apply. Canceling after the cutoff date forfeits your deposit and you are assessed a $25 administration fee. MedicWorks will issue you a company gift certificate that is valid for 1 year that can be used on a future course

Special situations will be addressed on a case by case bases. ie Major medical or military duty. All requests must be made in writing with supporting documentation.

No money will be refunded for WFA course if you cancel or withdraw after the cancellation cutoff.
No refunds are given after a course begins.
Written notifications must be received by a postal service (USPS, UPS, FedEx). Phone calls, text messages and phone calls are not excepted for cancelations.

NO SHOWS: No refunds are given after a course begins for no shows.

TRANSFERS: You may be able to transfer your registration, deposit and tuition, one time, to another date at no charge if Unforeseen circumstance arise. You must Call at least 3 business days before your scheduled basic class and transfer your registration to another date. Written documentation must also be send detailing your situation and include supportive information and documentation as to the nature of your emergency need to transfer to another course. Transfers must be requested prior to the start of original course.
Additional transfers will be charged a $25 administration fee.

Class Information

START TIMES:

Classes start ON-TIME. There is not a grace period. Please arrive 15 minutes before class begins. This gives you time to sign-in. Late arrivals will not be admitted into class and you will be counted as a ‘no show’. There are no refund of course fees for no shows.
Students must attend all class sessions and participate in skills, discussions and other activities to receive certification.

DRESS / ATTIRE: Please wear appropriate, comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and closed toe shoes that will allow for kneeling and lying on floor mats as required for training. Check class requirements on other guidelines.

MEALS: Courses with meal breaks, may we suggest that you bringing your snack/meal to be eaten during break in our lunchroom or at our picnic table in a grassed park-like setting.
Refrigerator, Vending machines and Local Restaurants may be available for your convenience at some class locations.

I.D.

Proper Photo Identification Required: Participates are required to bring a Current (valid) official photo I.D. issued by State/Military/Government issued picture I.D. (such as driver's license or passport) in order to verify identity before certifications are issued. Names on your photo ID must match the name you provide when registering. Members of groups, organizations, unions must also bring this I.D. to receive special gifts or etc.
Proper I.D. REQUIRED for discounts. ie Veterans Day DISCOUNT for Veterans, Military I.D. Required

Right to Cancel

MedicWorks retains the right to cancel a class at any time should circumstances require us to do so. For safety and efficacy reasons a minimum number of students may be required for some classes to be conducted. Extreme weather or other factors out of our control could require cancellation for safety reasons. As such, MedicWorks cannot be held responsible for reimbursement of related costs such as airline hotel, and rental car reservations or other expensives. If it becomes necessary to cancel a class, we will notify students as soon as possible to reschedule.

Release of Liability

Prior to the commencement of some classes, applicants will be required to sign a Release of Liability.

Logistics

Each student is responsible for his own lodging, meals, transportation, and basic personal equipment. If directions to a site or recommendations for lodging are needed, please contact MedicWorks. Basic PPE (personal protective equipment) may consists of medical examination gloves, safety glasses, proper ems footwear, leather gloves, steel-toed boots, pelvic seat or full body harness, coveralls or other work clothes, helmet with chinstrap, safety glasses or goggles, a water bottle, and snacks. Instructors will inspect all equipment provided by students. Also, some equipment may be provided by the instructors. Depending on type, location, weather, and other conditions student may also want to bring hearing protection, kneepads, sunscreen, warm clothes, rain gear, turnouts, wildland gear, and a headlamp or helmet light.

Basic First Aid & CPR classes normally have no requirements.
Health Care Provider (BLS) Level CPR classes may require a CPR Pocket Mask

FERPA

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that affords parents access to their children's educational records. When a student turns 18 years old, or enters a postsecondary institution at any age, the rights under FERPA transfer from the parent to the student.

Directory Information;
FERPA defines "directory information" as information generally not considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if disclosed., including name, address, telephone listing, date, place of birth, dates of attendance.
MedicWorks does not share this information with others

MedicWorks does not share or communicate student information or matters concerning the student with anyone other than the Student themselves, unless a signed wavier is on file listing whom may have access to students information ie test scores, attendance etc. For confidential reasons I.D. is required to verify persons with which information is shared. Appointments must be scheduled with the instructor or MedicWorks administration regarding these matters. Because we are required to properly identify those we are speaking with regarding protected information, these matters must be done in person.

MedicWorks requires all students who are not paying for their own courses to sign a waiver allowing or not allowing MedicWorks to discuss confidential information with specific individuals.

When others control the purse strings, they control you. MedicWorks is not State or Federally funded. We are a private small business.

MedicWorks accepts no State, Federal, or special interest group monies/subsidies to operate.
Students may use funds from any source. Grant monies, Department or agency funding, private funds.
Programs do not restricted students access because of affiliation or lack of.
MedicWorks does provide services and accept payments for services rendered by local, state and federal and other governmental agencies

Sponsors may restrict registration for courses offered only to their employees, agency, etc

The American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), American Safety and Health Institute (HSI, ASHI), ECSInstitute (AAOS, ESCI), National safety Council (NSC) and others strongly promote knowledge and proficiency in BLS (CPR, BCLS), ACLS and PALS as well as other lifesaving procedures and have developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by these companies. Any fees charged for this/these courses, except for a portion of fees needed for companies course material, do not represent income to said companies

American Heart Association

AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION GUIDELINES

AHA Cards issued not in accordance with AHA guidelines are INVAILD.
AHA Materials Textbook or Student Manual All students must have the current appropriate AHA course textbook for their individual use before, during, and after the course. Students should review the textbook before class and have immediate access to their own copy afterward as a reference and review tool.
THIS AHA TEXTBOOK POLICY DATES BACK TO BEFORE THE HEARTSAVER PROGRAM WAS CREATED in 1999.

AHA Training centers, AHA Training Sites and AHA Instructor who did not issue you an AHA students manuals but issued you an AHA cards may have INVALIDATED YOUR AHA CARD/CERTIFICATE. OSHA Compliance?
AHA Textbooks are designed for individual use and are an integral part of the AHA student’s education before, during, and after the course.

ONLY INSTRUCTORS TEACHING THEIR FELLOW EMPLOYEES (ie Hospital Staff, NOT Students from the Community, or Instructors coming into your site/office) BLS for Healthcare Providers may offer students the Option to borrow the Required Student Manual from the Hospitals library.
The only exception to this policy is the student who is a healthcare professional (ie EMT, RN, LPN, etc) who will have access to the textbook for individual study reference before, during, and after the course at his or her facility(ies). (ie Fire House, Hospital). A library/archive for healthcare professionals is acceptable but does not meet the requirement for lay programs (Heartsaver). These groups MUST have their own instructor on staff to teach their own employees. Hospitals, colleges, and others training people who are not their own employees do not qualify for this library exception. This student is taking BLS or Re-Newal BLS at their workplace that is an approved AHA Training Site and is taking the class from a fellow employee that is an AHA instructor.

* AHA Heartsaver Courses do not meet this exception rule. AHA requires each student to have their own copy of the AHA Heartsaver FirstAid, CPR/AED or FirstAid/CPR/AED textbook before, during, and after the course. Heartsaver course student manuals are a NON-LIBRARYABLE ITEM

Core Curriculum: Each AHA course must follow the guidelines and core curriculum set forth in the most current editions of the course textbook or Instructor’s manual. The most current editions of AHA course materials must serve as the primary instructional resource during the course.
Copyright/ Copying of AHA Material: The American Heart Association owns the copyrights to AHA textbooks, manuals, and other ECC training materials. These materials may not be copied, in whole or in part, without the prior written consent of the AHA.

AHA ECC Course Criteria: An AHA ECC (CPR etc) course must meet the following criteria before a course completion/participation card may be issued and the course referred to as an AHA course. The intent of this policy is to ensure consistent quality in AHA courses wherever they are taught. • The course must be taught according to the guidelines and core curriculum set forth in the most current editions of the AHA course textbook(s) and/or Instructor’s manual(s). * Each student must have the current appropriate course textbook and accompanying CD, if applicable, readily available for use before, during, and after the course. Textbooks are designed for individual use and are an integral part of the student’s education before, during, and after the course. Students may reuse their textbooks during renewals until new science guidelines are published. • The most current edition of AHA course materials: student books, videos, and exams must be used. • A course evaluation form must be used in each ECC course to obtain feedback from students on course content and Instructors. Each form must indicate how the student can send the form to the ECC Customer Support Center. • After successful course completion, the appropriate AHA course card must be issued.
